The magnificent Quirimbas Archipelago in Cabo Delgado Province, Northern Mozambique, consisting of 32 islands, stretches from the city of Pemba in the south to the town of Palma in the north. The Quirimbas National Park includes a vast expanse of forest and some of the unspoilt southern islands of the Archipelago. The Quirimbas have enormous cultural and historical value, with a combination of Arabian, Portuguese and African influences.
The 1 500 square km marine area of Quirimbas National Park includes 11 coral islands stretching for 100km. The tiny island of Medjumbe is teeming with fascinating bird life, including the Black Heron. Game fish including Marlin, Sailfish, Dogtooth Tuna, Mackerel, various species of Kingfish and the infamous Bonefish can be found here.
Medjumbe is accessed from Pemba by a 40-minute helicopter or light aircraft transfer.
“We had an amazing time and would highly recommend Medjumbe to anyone.
The staff were extremely friendly, accommodation was both stunning and of a high standard and the island itself was the perfect romantic place for a honeymoon…”

“First of all thank you for a very professional service you provide, and for organising the upgrade.
Medjumbe was amazing, the place, staff, food and the memories.
Thanks again”

“I was a beneficiary of the closure of Matemo Resort, and I have to say I couldn’t have been luckier. Medjumbe is a stunningly beautiful location, but what really makes this a wonderful destination is the service. The staff are friendly without being obsequious, attentive without being intrusive. Snorkeling reef a short boat ride from the island is spectacular. The food is five star, particularly considering the fact that you are on a remote island off the far northern coast of Mozambique. I will definitely return when I need rejuvenation!”

“We had the most magnificent time at Medjumbe – everything was absolutely perfect. I can’t think of anything that could have made our holiday better or that could be improved at the resort!
Thank you for making our booking.”

“We firstly would like to thank you for your exceptional insight and knowledge into assisting us where to go.
With Africa being so huge as it is, it is often difficuilt to establish those places which meet ones budget along with gaining that “Exceptional service and added value”.
Our flights to and from Pemba on LAM was absolutely lovely. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the service was and in what nice conditions the planes are. In many instances it makes our domestic carriers look rather average to be honest.
When we arrived in Pemba, we were greeted by the extreme humidity and very kind Rani officials who guided us to CFA offices up the road. It was rather an interesting experience as Pemba in many respects is a “True” African city if you understand what I mean.
The chartered flights to Medjumbe were breathtakingly beautiful. The archipelago is unlike what I’ve seen before and what is amazing is that it is still rather uncommercialised if one compares to Phuket, Phi Phi in Thailand which gives it a true gem and Robinson Crusoe feeling.
Medjumbe island itself is a true treat to any person that gets to go to step foot on and experience the very small but exceptionally beautiful island with its turquoise blue waters.
Victor the GM, along with all his staff went out of the way to make our stay as memorable as it could be. From organising picnics on Quissanga island to a sunset picnic on the sand bank on the west side of the island, I commend him and his team for putting in that extra effort to make our stay as enjoyable as can be.
If you are a seafood fan, then Medjumbe will add an extra smile as calamari, crayfish/Lobster are an everyday lunch/dinner which coupled by countless pino colada’s (Its an open bar”), gives you that feeling that heaven does exist on earth.
The rooms are very spacious and have open balconys with a splash pool facing the sea which is really lovely. There is even a hammock should one just wish to stare off into the distance whilst reading a book.
The true beauty of the island lies in its turquoise waters, they are the clearest I have seen. They are in fact clearer than the water I saw in Phi Phi which really makes the time spent there even more special.
Overall, all the above factors contributed to our honeymoon being a completely unforgettable experience and we would highly recommend any person considering an island small enough to give you that “Robinson Crusoe” feeling.
I cannot thank you enough for helping us find such a beautiful place that is generally unheard of to the majority of tourists.
Thanks and regards”

“Thanks for arranging a great holiday for us at Medjumbe, all I can say is that the island, facilities and food are truly amazing.”

“We had a fantastic honeymoon thanks and Medjumbe staff, accommodation and everything was superb. Unfortunately we had no luggage for the whole honeymoon as we changed planes in Maputo and our luggage somehow didn’t make it onto the plane with us. However we got by and had a great time anyway.
We definitely plan on going back there (hopefully with luggage next time) and have certainly recommended the place to many of our friends.
Kind regards”
Cathy
“Medjumbe is a wonderful island. It takes some time to reach the final destination, but it is soo worth it. Yanni (manager of the island) and his team are attentive, helpful and friendly – it almost felt like they were there just to serve us. The food is delicious and there is lots of it. The scenery is beautiful. The rest and relaxation on the island has recharged and revived us.
I would def recommend this island to anyone wanting a romantic getaway!!”
