Nestled 30 km (approximately a 45-minute drive) southeast of Inhambane town in Mozambique, Guinjata Bay offers a peaceful, vibrant coastal escape. A standard 2×4 vehicle will manage up to the nearby fuel station, but a 4×4 is highly recommended for reaching deeper into the area.

Fuel Station

Located just a 5-minute drive from Villa Castellos, the fuel station supplies petrol and diesel—visitors are advised to contact ahead to check availability, especially in quieter seasons.

Main Beach

The main beach is home to three beachside restaurants, two dive centres and a local craft market. Vehicles can be parked right on the sand, making arrival effortless and scenic.

Restaurants & Shops

On the beach front, three restaurants offer dining with ocean views. Note: opening hours vary, and in the off-season advance notice is recommended. For shopping, “Loja de Tashi” is a short 5-minute drive away; for a larger selection, “Yum Yum” lies a 40-minute bush-road drive (or an hour via Inhambane).

Dive Centres

Two full-service dive centres are active in the bay, offering easy access to one of Mozambique’s rich underwater habitats.

Hospital & Airport

For medical services, the nearest hospital is a 40-minute drive into Inhambane town. The closest airport (Inhambane Airport) is around 50 minutes away by road. Vilankulo Airport lies about 4.5 hours away, and Maputo roughly 8 hours away.
