An Island Getaway at one of the resorts in Mozambique is one of the best holiday adventures you can experience to date. With Mozambique being so close to South Africa as a neighbouring country, it’s not surprising to find how popular the beach and island resorts are with the South African residents.
One of the most diverse and beautiful areas in Mozambique is the Bazaruto Archipelago. This area is made up of a chain of five islands – once part of the mainland of Mozambique and having broken away from the African continent 25 000 years ago.
The largest of the group of islands, and the most northern, is Bazaruto Island – approximately 37 kilometers long and up to 7 kilometers wide in some parts. Two island resorts are situated on this island namely: Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa, situated on the western central part of the island (closest to the mainland) and Pestana Bazurato Lodge, situated at the northern tip of the island.
The eastern strip of the island is composed of enormous sand dunes and the rest of the island is a combination of thicket, grassland, scrub and wetland.

The facilities and services at this resort include amongst others: a salt-water swimming pool and wet pool bar, a wellness sanctuary spa, a fitness centre and a basic medical clinic.
