A Taste of Mozambique, Why Not?
We spend our busy lives trekking in and out of the city every day and visiting other cities. Learning of other cultures is great however wouldn’t you prefer a taste of Mozambique?
The capital of Mozambique is Maputo with a vibrant blend of Portuguese architecture, the well-known Mercado Municipal market and several museums. A place where the local flavours fill the air from freshly caught seafood to spicy peri-peri.
Maputo is a fascinating “stop-over” African city and although it is not really geared towards leisure it is the perfect starting point on your journey of unwinding from your city life. Let’s just be honest, you are looking to put those feet up and take in the tropical Mozambiquan setting while sipping an ice-cold beverage out of the hustle and bustle of the city.
Head off from the city and take an incredible 4X4 drive through the Maputo Elephant Reserve and then choose to get some sand in your toes or wet sea spray in your hair as you head off into Machangulo, a secluded unspoilt paradise at the tip of the Santa Maria Marina.
Should you not be a 4X4 enthusiast you can leave your car at the Maputo Marina and boat across to the place where the magic happens to start unwinding immediately. Untamed and untouched, the Southern Mozambican coastline plays host to a unique battle between the open Indian Ocean and the estuaries of Maputo Bay.
From unspoilt and endless white beaches, dune forests and harmonious aqua Blue Ocean, feel the warmth and hospitality while winding down from the city life into tranquillity on the untouched Mozambiquan mainland.
Take afternoon siestas, sit on your private deck while staring out at the ocean and views of Inhaca Island. Choose a day trip for a picnic to remember or try your hand a spear fishing, wreck snorkelling, dune forest walks or explore the Maputo Bay Estuaries. Take time.
This is the perfect combo for that restful weekend for any city goer.
