Mozambique Is Calling — And It’s Safe to Answer

If you’ve been wondering about safety—good news. Mozambique is calm, and life along the coast and on the islands continues to unfold peacefully, just as it always has. The areas where our lodges are based have remained unaffected, and governments have eased their travel advisories. As always, it’s a good idea to stay informed and travel smart – that’s where we come in – but now is a truly safe and fantastic time to plan that dream trip to Mozambique.

Anvil Bay

Set deep within the Maputo Special Reserve, Anvil Bay is a low-impact, barefoot beach lodge owned by the local Chemucane community. Its ten private “casinhas” are built from natural materials and powered entirely by solar energy, offering eco-conscious comfort on an untouched stretch of coastline.

The surrounding reserve is rich in wildlife, from coastal elephants to marine life. Guests can snorkel, paddle, or go on guided nature walks, knowing their stay directly supports conservation and local livelihoods. Anvil Bay is wild, peaceful, and purpose-driven.

Self-drive to Anvil Bay (4×4 required):

From R 43 470.00 per adult sharing for 6 nights

Sava Dunes

Perched atop dunes on the Inhambane coastline, Sava Dunes is a remote eco-lodge offering panoramic views and total tranquillity. It’s completely solar-powered, with just five ocean-facing cottages and one family chalet, all designed for comfort, natural airflow, and minimal impact.

Located in a marine biodiversity hotspot, it’s a great spot to see whales, dolphins, and manta rays. Guests can surf, snorkel, dive, or relax in the swim-up bar. With locally sourced meals and an off-grid ethos, Sava Dunes is ideal for travellers seeking sustainable adventure and quiet luxury.

Coral Lodge

Near the historic Ilha de Moçambique, Coral Lodge offers ten spacious villas that blend traditional Mozambican design with modern comfort. Surrounded by mangroves and dunes, the lodge runs on a solar-wind hybrid energy system that powers lighting and future eco-upgrades like solar boilers.

Guests can visit nearby villages, sail across coral reefs, or explore Ilha’s rich cultural history. Coral Lodge is more than a beach escape—it’s an immersive experience in nature and heritage, with a strong focus on sustainability and community engagement.

Nuarro Lodge

Tucked away on Mozambique’s untouched northern coast, Nuarro Eco-Lodge is a shining example of sustainable tourism done right. Built with local materials and traditional techniques, it’s entirely off-grid and solar-powered, from water pumps to diving gear. Composting toilets and “hugelkultur” beds (raised mounds for planting) help conserve water and turn waste into nutrients for the on-site vegetable garden.

But Nuarro’s impact goes far beyond eco-design. The lodge partners closely with the local Nanatha village, supporting schools, a maternity clinic, and community health through the ANAN Clinica foundation. Conservation is key too—they’ve worked with fishermen to create no-fishing zones that help protect marine life and support sustainable fishing.

Stay at Nuarro Lodge:

From R 48 280.00 per adult sharing in a Beach Chalet for 5 nights (with flights ex-Johannesburg)

Valid for travel until 31 December 2025

Guests stay in thatched villas—including floating ocean rooms—that offer both comfort and a light footprint.

Located in a marine protected area, Ossimba is ideal for snorkelling, diving, and birdwatching. Forest walks, kayaking, and cultural visits add to the experience, while meals feature fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It’s an eco-lodge for travellers who value nature, privacy, and low-impact living.
